SCIP stands for Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products).

The SCIP database is developed by ECHA (=European Chemicals Agency) based on the Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC. From 5 January 2021, companies that place articles on the EU market containing SVHCs (Substances of Very High Concern) on the Candidate List have to submit information on these articles to the ECHA. Specifically, this concerns articles manufactured, distributed or imported into the EU

What are POPs?

POP is the abbreviation of Persistent Organic Pollutants. These are carbon-based organic chemical substances. They possess a particular combination of physical and chemical properties such that, once released into the environment, they:

  • remain intact for exceptionally long periods of time (many years);
  • become widely distributed throughout the environment as a result of natural processes involving soil, water and, most notably, air;
  • accumulate in the fatty tissue of living
