Proposition 65 was introduced as a new pure substance group in IMDS on February 11, 2019.
The Proposition 65 - the official name is "Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986" - is a law enacted in 1986 in the US state of California to promote the cleanliness of drinking water. This regulation requires the state to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer, malformation or other reproductive harm. The regulation requires companies to inform California citizens of significant amounts of chemicals in their products. The law lists more than 800 chemicals containing substances such as cadmium, DEHP, ethylbenzene, but also many drugs such as aspirin. The content of the CP65 list overlaps with that of the REACH candidate list.
The background and goals and what the law can mean for your company you can find out in our 30-minutes, free webinar "Proposition 65".
