class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>California&#8217;s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 is better known as <a href=\"https:\/\/oehha.ca.gov\/proposition-65\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Proposition 65<\/a>. It is designed to protect the state&#8217;s drinking water sources from contamination with chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. It also requires companies to notify Californians about chemicals in their products if a release (exposure) is possible.<\/p>\n<p>The state of California has published a <a href=\"https:\/\/oehha.ca.gov\/proposition-65\/proposition-65-list\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">list<\/a> of proven hazardous chemicals, including asbestos, lead, bisphenol A (endocrine disruptor), cadmium and DEHP. It is forbidden to knowingly release these into drinking water sources. And a product warning must be displayed if a product contains one of these substances and exposure cannot be ruled out. Non-compliance with the regulations can result in heavy fines.
