The RoHS Directive serves to restrict certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. Among other things, the use of lead, mercury, cadmium and hexavalent chromium is regulated. There are exceptions for a few of the regulated substances in specific applications. The <a href=\"https:\/\/view.officeapps.live.com\/op\/view.aspx?src=https%3A%2F%2Fenvironment.ec.europa.eu%2Fsystem%2Ffiles%2F2023-09%2FExemptions%2520list%2520validity%2520and%2520rolling%2520planSept2023_1553089820.xlsx&amp;wdOrigin=BROWSELINK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">list of exemptions<\/a> last updated in September 2023 provides an overview.<\/p>\n<p>A review of the RoHS Directive, which was published in December, found that the restrictions are fundamentally functioning and effective. However, some suggestions for optimization have been made. For example, the ECHA is to be given new inspection powers and the FAQs from 2012 are to be revised and brought up to date.
