With Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/1930 of September 25, 2025, Dechlorane Plus and its isomers were added to Annex I of the POP Regulation (EU) 2019/1021. The Compliance Data eXchange (CDX) was updated in October to reflect the latest regulatory changes.
Dechlorane Plus is a chlorinated flame retardant (CAS No. 13560-89-9) used in electronics (cable sheathing, monitors, TV plugs), automotive plastics, building materials (roofing materials), and industrial equipment, among other things. It is considered a persistent organic pollutant due to its long-lasting, bioaccumulative, and toxic properties. Its manufacture, placing on the market, and use are now banned in the EU, but exceptions apply, for example, to aerospace and medical devices.
CDX users should review their product portfolio, request updated material declarations from suppliers, adapt internal compliance processes, plan alternative materials, and monitor regulatory updates until 2028.
