The IMDS 025 Recommendation has been revised

The IMDS

The ‘IMDS 025 Recommendation – Recycled and biobased content’ was adapted based on numerous feedbacks from supplier associations, OEMs and the IMDS Helpdesk:

  • Bio-based content has been permitted for material classification 7.1.
  • For mechanical recyclates that exceed 20%, the tests have been adjusted so that only the values entered are taken into account.
  • Tables with specific “Rules and guidelines” have been introduced to improve clarity and there have been further editorial changes and clarifications in the Definitions section.
  • A definition for recovered (reclaimed) material has been added in accordance with ISO 14021:2016.
  • There is now detailed guidance on the content of chemical recyclates in polymers.
  • A new chapter with guidelines for determining the recycled content, especially for steel materials, has also been added. This states, for example, that this information should be requested from the processing steelworks. If this is not known to the company, the Heat Report should be requested.
  • And there are additional examples of materials of different classifications with recycled/bio-based content.
