Objective

You know the milestones of the EU Action Plan, have gained an overview of the requirements of the SCIP database and know who is affected by the reporting obligations to the ECHA. You know the procedures for your data submission, are prepared for the preparation of the SCIP notification and can therefore plan your own data preparation schedule.

When processing SCIP dossiers, you will understand the required terms and the meaning of mandatory and optional fields. You will also know how you can transfer the SCIP dossier (manually or automatically, S2S key). This serves as a basis for learning the practical implementation in the next step (see course 6181).

In addition, you will be informed about sanctions for non-compliance with your SCIP reporting obligations and know how to avoid possible fines.

Objective

You will gain an overview of the SCIP reporting requirements and find out what you need to do in the IMDS to safely use the “SCIP transmissions” function. You will also learn how to integrate the existing S2S key into your IMDS account and understand the various SCIP attributes in the IMDS. You will be able to analyze the affected material data sheets (MDS) in the IMDS using the where-used list and independently transmit these MDSs to the SCIP database via the IMDS interface.

Objective

Get to know the GADSL: The Global Automotive Declarable Substance List (GADSL) is a tool used by the automotive industry to communicate information about chemical substances in components. It is used to improve transparency along the supply chain and ensure that products comply with global legal requirements. The GADSL is regularly updated to reflect new findings on substances and their risks.

You will learn about the background and international objectives of the GADSL. You will learn about the regional structure of the GASG, the organization and its members. You will learn about the structure of the Excel-based GADSL list and its criteria for the inclusion of new basic substances. This will enable you to find GADSL-categorized basic substances in the IMDS database and identify critical basic substances in good time. In addition, you will learn all about the new Critical Raw Materials (CRM) basic substance group and its reporting obligation since 2022. You now have the most important aspects for declaring your data in compliance with the law.

This exam preparation serves as a preliminary stage to the actual IMDS Expert (cert.) exam, which will be taken at a later date (dates to follow). It marks the start of the decisive phase in which you independently review and consolidate the knowledge you have acquired in the IMDS Skills Pyramid seminars (Levels 1-2) and, if necessary, attend any remaining courses in order to successfully pass the IMDS Expert (cert.) exam.

You will learn why the International Material Data System (IMDS) was established and its ongoing objectives. You will become familiar with the basic objectives and background information relating to the EU’s Green Deal. This includes the 2050 climate objectives, the carbon footprint, and the End-of-Life Vehicles Directive. You will become familiar with the global materials and product compliance requirements that underpin the IMDS and related systems. You will become familiar with the IMDS process flow, understand your responsibilities in terms of serving as a data link in the supply chain, and know when the time has come to start reporting in the IMDS. Objective

You will become proficient in the practical use of the IMDS and be able to independently process material data sheets (MDSs). You will also be able to register your company in the IMDS and know how to comply with its terms of use. You will become familiar with the definitions and use of the IMDS and know how to apply its basic functions. You will also be able to create, send, and manage material data sheets (MDSs), as well as create structure trees.
You will learn effective search mechanisms for finding high-quality data sheets and know how to integrate them into your structure tree. You will understand change management requirements and know how to implement them confidently. You will be able to perform simple administrative tasks in the IMDS. In addition, you will know how to avoid formal rejections by researching and applying OEM acceptance criteria.
