On November 5, 2025, the ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) added the substance 1,1′-(ethane-1,2-diyl)bis[pentabromobenzene] (DBDPE) to the REACH Candidate List. It has very persistent and very bioaccumulative properties and is used as a flame retardant in various industries.

The list now contains 251 entries. If products contain these substances, information on safe use must be provided and a notification must be submitted to the ECHA. In addition, these products must be reported to the SCIP database.
