Material reporting in Japan with Jama/Japia sheet

General

In order to meet the stringent laws and standards required by various OEMs, legislators and customers around the world, a systematic approach is needed to collect material composition information from the entire automotive supply chain.

One such standard system for documenting compliance is the International Material Data System (IMDS). A similar system, the China Automotive Material Database System (CAMDS), has been introduced for suppliers to customers in China.

In Japan, a proprietary tool for the investigation of the materials and substances used is called JAMA/JAPIA Sheet. In contrast to the first two standard systems mentioned above, JAMA/JAPIA sheets are not created, collected and stored throughout the supply chain using online browsers. Instead, a password protected macro Excel file called “Data Input Form” and its sister file “External List” must be obtained from the official JAPIA website or directly from your applicant/customer.

For companies that are not familiar with this investigation tool, reading the manual and familiarizing themselves with the system is necessary but time consuming. If you want to save time and are not sure how to present your product correctly in this worksheet, please contact us. We will be happy to help you create your JAMA/JAPIA sheets and meet the deadlines.
