Cobalt and mica reporting with EMRT and in CMD Manager

Conflict Minerals

In October 2021, the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) provided the Extended Minerals Reporting Template (EMRT). Many companies are already familiar with the CMRT for reporting the so-called 3TG (tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold). The EMRT will now be used to identify bottlenecks and collect due diligence information in the cobalt and mica supply chain. While there are no legal compliance requirements for these two raw materials so far (unlike, for example, the Dodd-Frank Act for the 3TG). However, the issue will become important under the Supply Chain Due Diligance Act. This is because it aims to prevent child labor and respect human rights, among other things. And so companies may be required to complete the CMRT and EMRT and disclose information on the origin of their raw materials along the supply chain.

It is helpful if the data is already collected in a system such as the CDX (Compliance Data Exchange). With CDX Release 7.8, the CMD Manager has now been expanded to include the option of cobalt and mica reporting. With the Responsible Materials Manager, CMRT and EMRT can be imported and exported, and CM and EM declarations can be created, sent and received automatically.
