Support for companies in fulfilling their reporting obligations
Weilrod, December 05, 2024 – The training schedule recently published by imds professional for the first half of 2025 features a mix of new, revised, and tried-and-tested training courses. The training provider based in the Taunus region is an expert in materials compliance topics. “Through our training courses and services, we help companies from manufacturing and processing industries worldwide comply with legal requirements and meet their reporting requirements,” explains Managing Director Magdalena Georgi. Various training courses on the International Material Data System (IMDS) are once again in the pipeline, as well as courses on related topics such as REACH. Relatively new to the program are training courses on the European POP Regulation, which regulates the use of persistent organic pollutants and PFASs, otherwise known as forever chemicals. imds professional also focuses on corporate due diligence and offers training courses on conflict minerals and the European Supply Chain Act. “We are also continuing our successful collaboration with the ZVEI Academy and are offering further dates for modules in our joint training program for the electrical industry,” continues Georgi.
Advanced training for the automotive industry
The IMDS is used by the automotive industry to report on the materials used along the entire supply chain. This enables the identification of potentially concerning substances and their exact concentrations. It is intended to facilitate the recycling and reuse of end-of-life vehicles and their components and can also serve as a basis for planning substitutions so that these substances can be avoided in the future. “The European Green Deal has given the IMDS a new significance,” explains Magdalena Georgi. This is because it stipulates that plastics, in particular, must be recycled to a greater extent in future and that a greater proportion of recyclates should be used. The aim is to reduce greenhouse gases. It has been possible to enter recyclate data in the IMDS for some time now. “But it’s not that easy. In our training courses we show businesses exactly how to do this, among other things,” says Georgi. Next year, it will also be possible to enter data on the CO2 footprint in the IMDS. This topic is also covered in imds professional training courses. As Georgi explains, “When the new end-of-life vehicle regulation, currently in draft form, comes into force next year, even more suppliers, including those providing truck parts, will be affected by the IMDS reporting obligation We are also happy to serve as their go-to point of contact and help them to stay on top of things.”
Professional development for the manufacturing and processing industry
imds professional also offers professional training courses for other industries. These include the European chemicals regulation REACH, the obligation to report Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) to the SCIP database, the POP Regulation, PFASs, conflict minerals, and the European supply chain law CSDDD, which are relevant for all industries. A training course on the RoHS Directive, which serves to restrict certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, is also offered. The modules in the “Materials Conformity for the Electrical Industry” course, which was developed in collaboration with the ZVEI Academy, are explicitly aimed at this sector. “We are also currently working on other topics, which we will publish over the course of next year,” explains Magdalena Georgi.
