Level 1
For decision-makers, managers and all newcomers to the IMDS, we start with our course 6119 – IMDS in theory: overview, background, introduction .
This course provides an overview of the relevant regulations and laws for the IMDS. After a brief “live preview” of the system, you will gain a good idea of what it involves and the kinds of tasks you will be faced with.
If you are a decision-maker or manager who does not work with the IMDS yourself, course 6119 is particularly recommended and can also be booked separately (independently of 6120 – Practice). After attending the course, you will know exactly what needs to be considered in relation to the IMDS in your company and which authorities you can or should involve.
This seminar is also suitable for those who are responsible (SQE/SQA/quality assurance) for the approval of samples of purchased parts (VDA Volume 2/PPAP) and want to understand the basic IMDS process.
6120 – IMDS in practice: Master the basics and start your journey to success During this course, an exploration of theoretical aspects is followed by plenty of practice. You will learn the basic working methods in the IMDS so that you can independently and confidently create material data sheets (MDSs) for your customers. You will also gain a good understanding of structure trees and master key IMDS functions for effectively creating and updating MDSs in your work, including following change management rules. Supporting exercises, which you carry out yourself in an IMDS training environment, ensure the transfer of knowledge into practice. You will be guided and supported by our IMDS experts every step of the way.
With a successful start under your belt, you are now ready to delve deeper into the complex range of functions offered by the IMDS and to use them in a targeted manner.

- You would like to manage the IMDS independently (administration).
➔ Your next steps: See package 1 “IMDS operations” - You would like to deepen your knowledge of IMDS regulations (Recommendations) to give you an even better understanding of all interrelationships. You want to prevent rejections and create an efficient workflow in the IMDS.
