IMDS Release 14.3 coming in March

The IMDS

On March 20, 2024, there will again be some changes in IMDS with Release 14.3. Here you will find an overview so that you know what to expect and can take the new functions into account when creating your MDS.

1. Bio-based content for classification 7.1
In future, bio-based content can also be specified as a material source for materials in classification 7.1. The information is based on the other classifications that already permit mechanical recycling as well as bio-based content (e.g. classifications 5.x). For materials of classification 7.1 that have already been released, the bio-based content is displayed as “0%”.

2. New recipient fields in the MDS report
The following fields are added to the recipient-specific information under the heading “1.2 Product identification” on the first page of a PDF report for an accepted MDS:

  • Drawing No.
  • Date of the drawing
  • Revision status of the drawing

3. New search types in the MDS tree search
The “Ingredients” view of each module/MDB is extended by the following search types (analogous to “Where-used analysis”):

  • Classification
  • Basic substance
  • Basic substance list
  • Basic substance group
  • GADSL/SVHC category
  • Confidential basic substances

4. Extension of the MDS analysis
The classification of materials is now also displayed in the analysis view of each MDS.

5. New options in the Polymer Material Wizard
In the wizard dialog for creating the symbol for materials of classification 5.1.x, it will be possible to select a flame retardant and/or plasticizer code in the future. The two existing checkboxes “Plasticizer ISO 1043-3 (optional)” and “Flame retardant ISO 1043-4 (optional)” will be replaced by drop-down menus with the codes. For example, if “DBP” is selected as plasticizer and “52” as flame retardant, “P(DBP) FR(52)” will be added to the symbol.

6. Copying an MDS
When manually copying an MDS or creating a new version, a dialog is now displayed. Here you can select which references are to be updated and which are to be retained. The dialog is not displayed when the “Update MDS” screen is used to create a new version.

7. Extension of the MDS check
When checking a MDS, the ID/version and the suppliers of the most affected MDS will appear in future. In this way, these suppliers can be quickly identified and an updated version requested.

8. Recyclate check
During the MDS check for recyclates, only entered data will be taken into account and only if the margin between pre-consumer and post-consumer recyclate exceeds 20%, no longer the calculated total percentage.
