6119 – IMDS in theory: overview, background, introduction

This course is designed for decision-makers, managers, and beginners in IMDS.

You will receive a clear overview of the key regulations and legal requirements, along with a short live introduction to the system. This helps you quickly understand what IMDS involves and what tasks to expect.

Even if you are not working directly in IMDS, this course is highly beneficial. You will learn what needs to be considered within your organization and which stakeholders should be involved.

It is also suitable for anyone responsible for part approvals (e.g. VDA Volume 2 / PPAP) who wants to understand the IMDS process.

6120 – IMDS Basics (Practical): Starting efficiently, working safely, accurate reporting

In this course, you will put your knowledge into practice.

You will learn how to independently create material data sheets (MDS), build proper structures, and use key IMDS functions effectively. You will also understand how to update data in line with change management rules.

Hands-on exercises in a training environment ensure you can immediately apply what you have learned—supported by experienced IMDS experts.

After completing the course, you will be well prepared to work with IMDS and further develop your skills (Level 2).

6120 - IMDS Basics (Practical): Starting efficiently, working safely, accurate reporting

Your status: You are already an IMDS user and have experience in creating and editing MDSs.

Your goals:

  1. You want to make the system much easier to use by applying special functions.
  2. You want to be able to examine your database holistically in the event of legal changes (keyword: Where-Used List; e.g. when adding new SVHCs to the REACH Regulation’s Candidate List).
  3. You would like to manage the IMDS independently (administration).

IMDS Expert (PersCert TÜV)

You will first take part in a short preparation webinar, where the process and technical requirements are explained.

The certification exam—conducted by TÜV Rheinland—is the formal proof of your professional expertise.

In the exam, the following is assessed:

  • whether you have a solid command of the relevant IMDS regulations,
  • whether you can correctly evaluate technical interrelations,
  • whether you are able not only to use IMDS, but also to take professional responsibility for it.

Upon passing the exam, you will receive the internationally recognized TÜV certificate as IMDS Expert (PersCert).
